Q: When can I move in?
A: Right away, if you like. If we have a storage unit available that meets your needs, you can move in any time that suits you. Or, for a small reservation charge we can reserve your unit for you to move into when you’re ready.
Q: How much notice needs to be given when I move out?
A: We normally require 14 days’ notice before you move out, however we understand that this isn’t always possible, so please give as much notice as you can to allow us to prepare your final account. Our staff will go over this process at the time of signing your contract.
Q: What type of documentation do I need to provide you with?
A: We need one form of photo ID (driving license, passport or other official ID). We also require confirmation of your address, so please bring a recent utility bill.
Q: Do I need to sign a long-term lease?
A: No, we don’t tie you in to a long-term contract - you can stay for as long or as short a time as you need, although our minimum charge period is 14 days. We’ll send your storage invoice to you monthly. When you do move out, we’ll refund any overpaid rental to the day you vacated, so you’ll never pay for storage you don’t use. We do offer discounts for customers who sign a contract for longer periods, so please ask.
Q: What about insurance?
A: Yes - your stored goods
must be insured for their full replacement value. We can provide insurance cover for you and we include:
The first £1,000 of our own insurance cover free
for storage units of sizes up to and including 50 square feet.
The first £2,000 of our own insurance cover free
for storage units of sizes from 60 to 200 square feet.
Additional cover is available at a cost of £3.00 per additional £1,000 of cover required.
Q: Does someone have to be in the office to let me into my storage unit?
A: No. If you have an external storage unit, you have access to it 24/7. If you have an internal unit, you can just drive or walk straight in - no need to come into our office.
Q: How do I make a payment?
A: You can either pay in person, over the phone, or by making a bank transfer. It’s also easy to set up a Standing Order.
Q: What forms of payments do you accept?
A: You can pay by cash, cheque, debit and credit card, American Express, bank transfer or Standing Order.
Q: Do you sell boxes and storage supplies?
A: Yes, we do. Here at ABRA Self Storage we have a range of affordable boxes, tape, bubble wrap, furniture covers, gloves - everything you could need.
Q: How do I know how much storage space I will need?

Q: Can I just pop into ABRA and see the storage units? Or do I need an appointment?
A: Stop by anytime between 7 am and 6 pm Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm Saturday, or 10 am to 4 pm on Sunday - our staff will be happy to show you the range of units we have; one will be right for you!
Q: Do I need to bring my own lock?
A: Not if you’re going to take one of our external steel storage containers (we provide a specialised high security CISA lock for these at no cost). You will need a padlock if you’re going to take an internal storage unit - we have quality padlocks available to buy here at our office.
Q: Are there any items that I am NOT able to store?
A: Yes - common sense items such as living things, plants, explosives, flammable liquids and gases, toxic materials and perishables. Please get in touch if you’re not sure.
Q: Do you have trolleys and barrows available at your facility?
A: Yes. You are welcome to use our complimentary trolleys and barrows to move in, however you’ll find that most of our internal units here at East Kilbride are accessible by car or van (which is very unusual and is a great feature of our East Kilbride centre), so in most cases you will get your vehicle right to the unit. All of our external storage containers are accessible by car or van.
